Performances:

• Main Street: Robin O’Herin, a Berkshires -based, acoustic blues and gospel musician with a hint of Appalachian mountain music. 6-8pm

• Main Street: Conor Meehan with Jason Ennis and Natalia Bernal to sing some groovin sambas. 6-9pm

• Be Your Own Placebo presents Peter Glantz and The Imaginary Company in Being Impossible - a 25 minute performance. Starts at 8pm

• The Artery hosts Blood Spurts, Train Wrecks & Tragedy. Dance Party. Featuring DJ Lucius Baroque. 9:30 till midnight.

Video screenings:

Local color features “Action Paiting”: Sengalese musicians play in a private park south of Siena.  An artist paints a large canvas in response to the music. Ongoing from 6 to 9pm.

If you are a street performer and you would like to perform on August 26 between 6pm and 9pm please contact us.

On July 29 between 2pm and 9pm downtown North Adams lived again one of its magic Summer moments.
The response of locals and new visitors has been extremely positive. The monthly DownStreet Art reception brought art, music, performances and above all people around the city. A free trolley service helped visitors to move around the 12 new exhibitions as well as the ongoing site-specific installations that are dotting North Adams throughout the Summer.

Our next appointment will be on August 26 although several events will happen before then. Stay tuned, check out the map and the calendar!

Its a roving recital - follow a merry band of musicians from gallery to gallery for a mini-tour of DownStreet Art. The fun starts at Galerie Haiti at 49 Main St. then moves right next door to Gallery 51. A few doors up, the Bang on a Canners will play in Maya III, the Jarvis Rockwell Retrospective at 73 Main Street and the event wraps up at The Artery on Holden Street where you can shoot some really enhanced pool after the concert. Great music + great art = a memorable night.

A large-scale multimedia installation that slowly revolves and represents the stories of two families from Williamstown and North Adams, MA. Pèpon Osorio transforms personal memory into a collective narrative arwork that at the end of the Summer will be transfer at The Williams College Museum of Art, which commissioned of the project.

Great events will come in a couple of weeks!

On June 24, 37 art destinations participated in DownStreet Art changing once again the face of downtown North Adams and Main Street. Galleries and unconventional spaces on Marshall, Main, Holden and Eagle streets were mobbed with artists, residents and visitors as the community art project celebrated its third season.

Mayor Richard J. Alcombright, who was enjoying the evening with his wife, noted that a fast-paced thunderstorm ended at the perfect time - about 20 minutes before the event - to help cool things off. “It’s a beautiful night and a beautiful crowd,” he said. “This is a growth event - it really shows what can happen when you take a good idea and expand it. I’d love to be able to find a way to make events happen every week and keep this momentum going on a weekly basis“. (source North Adams Transcript).
